Pixel Bug: A Day at the Park

Hello everyone, this my first time to join the "PixelBug" meme and I am very excited. This week I chose that theme because we had so much fun yesterday at the park. We only spend 9 bucks with everything...dinner, fun and games, movie 'Princess Frog' swimming. The "Spring Splash at Heartland Park" is an annual activity for the Heartland community and I tell you, we had a blast though we didn't get to swim because the pool was very crowded :-)!

Here are the photos...have fun looking!
waiting for his turn for inflatable obstacles course...
there he goes....and Daddy (on green shirt) watches him...
dinner: hotdog, chips, baked bbq beans, potato salad, and water.

After dinner, went and played at the pirate cove...
then, this was before the movie starts.

Jake's Graduation/Ceremony

This Monday was Jake's graduation/ceremony. Hubby and I were surprised because we thought they will just do a presentation (sing and dance) that day! But we were wrong! After they presented the song and dance, Jake's teacher, Mrs. Mc Crea started calling the kids name one by one handling them a diploma (if I may say). It was different how they do the Kindergarten graduation here in the U.S. I remember back in the Philippines, it was like a big deal! But here, it was like an ordinary day; I think a lot of parents didn't even know that their kids are going to have this ceremony that is why there were only few parents showed up. Anyway, here are some photos I have taken that day.

During the presentation...singing one of the Beach Boys songs with actions...
After their presentation....they were asked to seat.....for the awarding ceremony.
Jake's teacher, Mrs. Catherine Mc Crea....
With Daddy....and
...of course the Mommy, me!
Showing his diploma..congrats, Anak...we are so proud of YOU!

The Importance of Field Trips

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Lunchables. All opinions are 100% mine.

The other day was my son's last field trip for this school year. They went to Petco near his school. I volunteered to help kids cross a major intersection with other parents. I had three boys with me including my son. Anyway, the children had a blast watching snakes, fish, birds, cat, and grooming a dog. They enjoyed petting animals such as guinea pigs, and mice. They were so curious and asked a lot of questions to the people at Petco...they were listening intently and learned a lot of things about those animals. My son is only 5 year old and the trip to Petco helped him overcome his fear on certain animals. He also learned something about the pet ( cat) he wanted to adopt this summer.

Talking back on field trips, to me, field trips are fun, educational and most of all can be valuable to our children. It can be expensive sometimes, but it depends on the location and stuffs. Yesterday, we didn't pay anything at all, not even a penny for that field trip. However, because of the condition of the economy right now, many schools are cutting up expenses by eliminating or limiting field trip just to stay on budget. It is sad, but the schools need to do what is necessary to stay within their budgets...even if it means eliminating field trips.

Anyway, Lunchables, a private commercial company has an ongoing contest called Field Trips For All that allows anyone 6 years of age or older to nominate a deserving classroom to go on an inspiring, educational field trip paid by the Lunchables company. The field trip must be educational and will help children with their academic learning. The company's purpose is to empower kids with opportunities to help them reach their full potential, and provide enriching experiences kids might be lacking. So, If you know of a deserving classrooms, nominate them by clicking this link. Fifty (50) lucky classrooms nationwide will be selected. Let us know if you nominate classrooms and why do you think they deserve to win the contest.

Things to Think About!

Okay, I don't do what the graphic image describes here, but am guilty of spending much time in front of the computer which I think is wrong especially when one forgets her/his duty to his family. Sometimes we made excuses just to justify our actions.... we even tend to rationalize at times. These are Satan's tactics to make us think that what we do is right....to make us neglect the most important part of our life which is our families. Modern technology such as computer and internet is good if we use them properly. Anyway, just want to share this message came from one of the leader of the church.

Satan also strives to entice the sons and daughters of God to minimize the importance of their physical bodies.....Please be careful of becoming so immersed and engrossed in pixels, texting, ear buds, twittering, online social networking,..... that you fail to recognize the importance of your physical body and miss the richness of person-to-person communication. ~Elder David A. Battle In the Morning!

I don't know about you guys, but here at our house there is a tiny battle happening every morning. What is it and between who? It is the battle of eating breakfast slow and the battle is between me and my son. Yup, every morning, no matter how early I wake him up...it always ends on a little battle. I don't know what to do with him! He is a slow eater. Can't you imagine a small bowl of cereal will take him at least 20 minutes to finish? Oh man, it is driving me nuts! Oh and what about 15 minutes of getting dress up? So, to speed the process, hubby and I sometimes spoon feed him and even help him get dress, so he won't be late for school. Thank goodness, this fall we don't have to drive him to school because our house is a walking distance away. I hope the battle ends then :-)! To Jake, Anak, I hope you do better next time!

Weekend at Lake Tawakoni

After our Saturday trip to Mesquite Rodeo with fiends, the next day which was Sunday afternoon, we went to Lake Tawakoni State Park for some fresh air and nature's walk...here are the pictures I took while Jacob was busy playing with the sand. There were plenty of people picnicking fishing, playing volleyball, and swimming. We didn't swim though.

with some people on the background...
while enjoying with the sand...
he wanted to swim and get wet...
but it wasn't on the plan, that is why he just played.
On the way home, this is a view overlooking the Lake Ray Hubbard....so pretty! I will post more photos of the people fishing, and walking on the nature's trail next time.
